On the computer or server
To install and authenticate DataSight Administrator, a user must have administrator rights on that computer, be it a local computer or a server. Once DataSight Administrator is installed, users no longer require administrative rights to operate it.
On Microsoft SQL Server
A DataSight Administrator user must have the correct administrative privileges to connect to the MS SQL Server instance and perform the administrative actions required, such as creating and backing-up databases, creating users and editing user permissions.
A Microsoft SQL Server system administrator (SYSADMIN or sa) will have this permission.
It is expected that a user that has installed MS SQL Express for themselves on a single computer or server will have established and noted the correct login for the SYSADMIN. This login will be used by DataSight Administrator to connect to the Microsoft SQL Server instance, and to create the first DataSight database.
For larger organisations, where Microsoft SQL Server is installed on a server farm, the IT professionals in charge of this infrastructure will have access to the SYSADMIN login or have a login with similar privileges.
