Sampling Page

The Sampling page is used to record sample codes as required. Sample codes are exported to the DATASIGHT VARIABLE specified in the selected DSApp Configuration, and is referred to below as the "Sample Code".

If recording sample codes is required, tap Continue to Sampling, otherwise tap NEXT.

There are three methods by which Sample Codes can be generated.

Input Method

Description

Manual Entry

Allows you to enter the Sample Code manually using the on-screen keyboard.

DSApp will generate the Sample Code in the following format: LEVEL 3 NAME_DATE_TIME_VALUE

  • LEVEL 3 NAME is the name of the selected Level 3.
  • DATE is the date entered on the Sampling page, in the format of YYYYMMDD, where YYYY is the year, MM is the month and DD is the day.
  • TIME is the time entered on the Sampling page, in the format HHMMSS, where HH are the hours in 24-hour format, MM are the minutes and SS are the seconds.
  • VALUE is the value that was entered into the ENTER SAMPLE CODE field.

Scan QR Code - CAMERA

Allows you to scan a QR code using the smart device's inbuilt camera, which will be used by DSApp to generate the Sample Code for the collected sample.

DSApp will generate the Sample Code in the following format: LEVEL 3 NAME_DATE_TIME_QRCODE

  • LEVEL 3 NAME is the name of the selected Level 3.
  • DATE is the date entered on the Sampling page, in the format of YYYYMMDD, where YYYY is the year, MM is the month and DD is the day.
  • TIME is the time entered on the Sampling page, in the format HHMMSS, where HH are the hours in 24-hour format, MM are the minutes and SS are the seconds.
  • QRCODE is the content of the QR code being scanned.

Scan QR Code - BLUETOOTH

Allows you to scan a QR code using a barcode scanner connected to the smart device via bluetooth, which will be used by DSApp to generate the Sample Code for the collected sample.

DSApp will generate the Sample Code in the following format: LEVEL 3 NAME_DATE_TIME_QRCODE

  • LEVEL 3 NAME is the name of the selected Level 3.
  • DATE is the date entered on the Sampling page, in the format of YYYYMMDD, where YYYY is the year, MM is the month and DD is the day.
  • TIME is the time entered on the Sampling page, in the format HHMMSS, where HH are the hours in 24-hour format, MM are the minutes and SS are the seconds.
  • QRCODE is the content of the QR code being scanned.

 

Generate a Sample Code

  1. Under SAMPLE DATE TIME:
    • Tap the date to display the calendar dialogue allowing you to select the date the sample was taken on.
    • Tap the time to display the clock dialogue allowing you to select the hours and minutes the sample was taken at.
    • Tap the seconds to display a number pad to enter the seconds the sample was taken at. Alternatively, tap the plus or minus buttons to increase or decrease the seconds.
  2. Tap the FLAG drop-down to display the list of available Flags, tap to select the Flag.
  3. Tap the INPUT METHOD drop-down to display the list of input methods available, tap to select the method.
  4. For Manual Input
    • Tap the PLEASE ENTER THE VALUE FOR SAMPLE CODE field to display the on-screen keyboard for data entry, and type in your Sample Code.
    • Tap the NEXT button to save the entry. DSApp will display the Sample Approval page and create a new row in the Sample Approval section, including a button displaying your sample code.
  5. For Scan QR Code - CAMERA or Scan QR Code - BLUETOOTH
    1. Tap SCAN SAMPLE to activate the either the smart device's camera or paired bluetooth barcode scanner.
    2. Align the QR code with scanner option selected (camera or bluetooth barcode scanner). DSApp will detect the QR code and capture the data encoded within.
      • If required, you can tap the CANCEL button located at the top-right of the camera screen to cancel camera scanning and be taken back to the Sampling Page.
      • Upon successful detection of the QR code, DSApp will generate and display the Sample Code below the SCAN SAMPLE button, which will be exported once you have finished scanning all required QR codes.
    3. If you have more samples to composite, tap the SCAN SAMPLE button to append another QR code to the end of the Sample Code.
    4. If you have finished scanning all QR Codes for this Sample Code, tap the NEXT button to save the Sample Code. DSApp will display the Sample Approval page and create a new row in the Sample Approval section, including a button displaying your sample code.
    5. If you would like to create another Sample Code; simply tap COLLECT NEW SAMPLE to return to the Sampling page, update the date and time to that required for the new sample and tap the SCAN SAMPLE
  6. Repeat as many times as required for your Sample Codes, with each sample code being captured within a button displayed in the Sample Approval section on the Sample Approval page.

 

Review and Approve Generated Sample Codes

  1. Once all samples have been recorded, on the Sample Approval page:
    1. Review the Sample Approval section for your created Sample Code(s), and tap the buttons relating to each Sample Code for the ones you wish to save, changing the button's background to Yellow.
      • Only the selected Sample Codes (buttons with a Yellow background) will be saved and exported.
      • To undo a selected Sample Code, simply tap the button again to de-select it and change the button's background to Grey.
    2. To remove a Sample Code from the Sample Approval section, simply tap the delete
  2. Tap NEXT to proceed to the next page as determined by your DSApp Configuration.

Note

The format of the QR Code's content is required to be in the following format:

STRING-SAMPLEID

  • STRING can be whatever alphanumeric string you require.
  • A dash "-".
  • SAMPLEID is the section of the QR Code that DSApp will use to append to the end of the Sample Code string.

Only one dash "-" is allowed, or DSApp will not be able to correctly capture the SAMPLEID portion of the QR Code.
