Safety Page

Selection of the Level 3 (site) and completion of the SAFETY page is mandatory. Selections made on the SAFETY page will be populated as Variable values in DataSight.

 

Start your Site Visit

  1. Set the DATE AND TIME of the site inspection.
    • The date and time are pre-populated with the device's current date and time.
    • To change the date, tap the date to set it using the calendar dialogue.
    • To change the time, tap the time to set it using the time dialogue.
  2. Tap LEVEL 1 to display the list of available levels to choose from, this selection filters the list of LEVEL 2 levels to those under the selected Level 1.
  3. Tap LEVEL 2 to display the list of available levels to choose from, this selection filters the list of LEVEL 3 levels to those under the selected Level 2.
  4. Tap LEVEL 3 to display the list of available levels to choose from, then tap the level you would like to capture data for.
  5. Tap TASK to display the selection dialogue listing the available tasks the safety information relates to.
    • Tap the task you want to select.
    • Currently only SITE VISIT AND MAINTENANCE and SAMPLING are available.
  6. The following sections on the Safety page will be determined by the DSApp Safety and Hazard Group Variables configured within your DataSight database. Responses are recorded by either tapping a button to select it or entering text in the fields displayed.
    • Button responses will be recorded as either a 'Yes' or 'No' value depending on whether the condition has been selected or not.

 

Default DSApp Safety Variables and Groups

Detailed below are the steps to perform if using the default DSApp Safety Variables and Variable Groups.

  1. Five safety elements of the task are available within the THINK THROUGH THE TASK section for acceptance or not.
    • Tapping the safety element will select it, which will change the background colour to Yellow and accept the condition.
    • To cancel a selection, tap the button again which will change the background to Grey.
    • At least one item must be selected in order to progress from the SAFETY.
  2. Tap SPOT THE HAZARD to display the selection dialogue allowing you to choose whether there is a hazard present or not.
    1. Tap either No Hazard or Hazard as appropriate for the task.
    2. If Hazard has been selected, a field will be made available below for you to enter the description of the Hazard, as well as the CONFIRM RISK
      • Tap the field to bring up the on-screen keyboard for entering the description.
      • When you have finished entering the description, tap CONFIRM RISK.
    3. If No Hazard has been selected, proceed to Step 5.
  3. Tap ASSESS THE RISK to display the list of Risk Levels to assign to the Hazard.
    • Available Risk Levels are High, Medium and Low.
    • Tap the appropriate Risk Level to select it.
    • Regardless of whether a Hazard has been entered or not, the Risk Level must be selected.
  4. Two condition buttons are available within the MAKE THE CHANGES section to encourage discussion surrounding risk mitigation and controls.
    • Tap the button to select it, which will change the background colour to Yellow and accept the condition.
    • To cancel the selection, tap the button again which will change the background colour to Grey.
    • At least one item must be selected in order to progress from the SAFETY.
  5. Tap CAN THE JOB BE DONE SAFELY? to display the selection dialogue listing either Yes or No.
    • Tap the appropriate response to select it.
    • If you select No, you cannot progress further for the data entry as the task being conducted is considered unsafe.
  6. Tap NEXT to proceed to the next page as determined by your DSApp Configuration.
    • If this button turns red, then one of the above items has not been entered or has not had the condition selected.
