Launching DSApp and Basic User Interface Elements

DSApp has been designed to capture and view DataSight data using a mobile device.

To get started with DSApp, all parts of the DSApp system must be configured.  Connection to DataSight may require the assistance of your IT Administrator.

To start DSApp, navigate to the DSApp logo on your device.

Tap the DSApp logo to access the DSApp Home Page.

Note

After DSApp starts, a check will be performed on the subscription status of DSApp to determine if an active subscription has been purchased.

The DSApp user interface provides for intuitive commands within a smart device environment.

DSApp screens are responsive and thus scale to your device.

A pointing device, such as your finger or stylus, is required by DSApp to make selections by tapping on an item.

Data population can be completed via the device's on-screen keyboard, which appears when a field is selected.

This functionality is predominantly the same across the two main operating systems for mobile devices, Android and iOS, but some variations are noted below:

 ANDROID and iOS

  • Grey buttons can be tapped to initiate connections, or accept a condition.
  • Yellow buttons indicate that the condition named within that button is true, and the condition will be saved as such to a dated Variable value in DataSight.
  • Green buttons indicate that settings named within the button are checked off and/or connection has occurred.
  • Orange buttons (except for datetime entry fields) indicate that settings named within the button are not checked off and/or connection has not occurred.
  • Red buttons indicate that data entries are not correct, or the selection needs to be reviewed, or there are conditions not favourable to proceeding.
  • Date or time data entries are highlighted in Orange as a reminder to update these as required.
  • Alphanumeric data entered to DSApp fields is imported into DataSight as typed.
  • Entry fields for population are outlined in black, unless the field is tapped, then they are highlighted blue.
  • Labels of fields are often CAPITALISED.
  • If using DataSight Standards, the outline of the Variable field will change to red when data is entered outside the bounding minimum and maximum values. The field outline of the Variable will show as green when data is within the bounds.

 ANDROID

  • Button commands are CAPITALISED with dark font.
  • Making selections from lists are completed by tapping the required selection from the list.

 iOS

  • Buttons commands are CAPITALISED with blue font.
  • Making selections from lists are completed by scrolling through the list, tapping the required selection from the list, and then tapping Done.
