Generate DSApp Data

To create the Saved Views and automated Tasks required by DSApp, perform the following steps:

  1. Upgrade your database if you have not already done so.
  2. Click DSApp in the DSApp Data group of the DataSight Administrator Ribbon. The Generate DSApp Data view appears in the Main Panel.
  3. Select the required DataSight Database from the drop-down list of available databases within the Choose Database section. The selected database name appears in the DSApp Data section, along with the DSApp Variable Groups and Variables.
  4. Within the Configuration section, perform the following steps:
    1. Enter the FTP Server URL or IP address where the DSApp Report, DSApp Datasheet and DSI files will be uploaded to.
    2. Enter the Username of the FTP Account to be used by DSApp to connect to the FTP Server.
    3. Enter the password of the FTP Account in the Password and Confirm Password
    4. (Optional) Modify the Generate Report file filename or Task schedule if required.
    5. (Optional) Modify the Generate Datasheet file filename or Task schedule if required.
    6. (Optional) Modify the Import and Archive Data Files to folder or Task schedule if required.
    7. Click the Setup DS App button to generate the Saved Views and automated Tasks required by DSApp. DataSight Administrator will create the:
      1. 'DSAppReport' Saved View. This report is used by the 'Generate DSApp Report' automated Task for providing DSApp with information about your database's Levels, Variables, Equipment, Flags, People, Standards and MDE Templates.
      2. 'Generate DSApp Report' automated Task. This Task is used to generate the 'DSAppReport' report file and upload it to your FTP Server.
  • 'DSAppDatasheet' Saved View. This datasheet is used by the 'Generate DSApp Datasheet' automated Task for providing DSApp with data from your database.
  1. 'Generate DSApp Datasheet' automated Task. This Task is used to generate the 'DSAppDatasheet' data file and upload it to your FTP Server.
  2. 'Import DSApp Data' automated Task. This Task is used to import DSI files generated by DSApp that have been uploaded to your FTP Server.
  3. DSApp Configuration File which can be imported into DSApp. This file contains the settings required by DSApp for accessing your FTP Server to download the 'DSAppReport' and 'DSAppDatasheet' data files, as well as uploading the DSI files generated by DSApp.
    1. In the Save As dialog, navigate to a location where you would like to save the DSApp Configuration file, modify the File name if required, and then click Save.
  4. Click OK on the confirmation dialog.

Note

Changes made in the Configuration section will not be reflected within DataSight until the Tasks and/or Views have been re-created by clicking the Setup DS App button. These changes will also not be reflected within DSApp until an updated DSApp Configuration File is imported, or the settings are manually updated.
