Different Levels, Same Variable
DataSight charts can be constructed to compare data for the same variable across multiple locations.
- Click Chart in the View group on the DataSight Ribbon to open a blank chart template in the Main Panel.
-
Identify the monitoring locations that you wish to review by selecting the Level under which ALL the monitoring locations can be found, and must include the Level 1 equals .... filter condition as a minimum. This selection will become the Main Filter. You may wish to select a time period also to remove as much irrelevant data as possible.
- Drag the dependent variable onto the y-axis of the chart the appropriate number of times for how many sites that will be used in the comparison. The chart will now display a number of identical lines in different colours.
- Right-click on the chart and select Chart Editor.
- On the Series tab, select one of the series and click Title.
- Rename the Series title to that of the Level.
- Repeat with remaining series.
-
Close the Chart Editor.
- In the Filter Panel click on the first series tab.
- Add filter conditions specific to the Level (e.g. Level 3 equals ....). If only the Level 1 equals .... filter condition was applied in the Main Filter, then you must use Level 2 equals .... and Level 3 equals .... filter conditions for the series.
- Select the next series tab, and change its filter conditions to specify the next site. Reiterate this process until all the filter conditions in the site tabs are specified.
- In the filter panel click on the Main Filter.
- (Optional) Save your chart.
Note
|
When you build the Main Filter you need to ensure that your monitoring locations are under the same Level otherwise you will not be able to see the data.
If you wish to show another variable on the same chart, simply drag that variable to the right-hand axis, again, as many times as you have sites to display.
