DataSight Administrator

DataSight Administrator

DataSight Administrator is a standalone program that focuses solely on the DataSight-related features on the Microsoft SQL server, providing a Windows-based interface between SQL Server and DataSight.

Database or IT administrators can use DataSight Administrator to access the Microsoft SQL Server instance to perform common DataSight database management functions such as:

  • Creating DataSight and DSWeb databases
  • Deleting DataSight and DSWeb databases
  • Carrying out backups and consistency checks
  • Managing DataSight users and security groups
  • Implementing DSApp functionality within your DataSight database

A DataSight Administrator, after installing DataSight to a DataSight users’ computer, should provide users with the following information:

  • SQL Server name (or IP address)
  • DataSight Database name
  • User name and password

It is then up to the user(s) to populate the DataSight database with data.

Note

DataSight Administrator may also be referred to as DS Administrator.

Standard Microsoft SQL Server management tools, such as Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, can be used for the same tasks as DataSight Administrator, given sufficient competency of the IT administrator.
